Fall Design, Acorn

October 30, 2012

One of the finest pleasures of fall besides the coolness in the air is collecting little treasures with my son. I was so taken with the bi-colored acorns. When I removed the cap, the yellow was left in its place. This design uses one acorn to make the ‘flower’ and the ‘hat’ for the center.

Calla Lily Botanical Design

Calla Lily Botanical Design

Ah, the calla. Elegant, refined, and sensuous.

This photograph, made in Photoshop is made up of 3 separate designs and measures 80x 80 inches. I would love to see it full size on a big wall ( a white one, or a yellow one or a green one).

My friend Karen Sikie and I are embarking on a licensing journey, that is, working to get our designs ready so companies can use the images on their products. Bedding? Plates? Tiles? Paper? Who knows what the future will hold?

Mystery White Flower

Firework Stamens, African Linden or sparmannia africana

What attracted me to this flower was it’s amazing stamens (maybe I am part bee).

The hub of buds hanging and large leaves make it all around attractive.

The plant stands around 5 foot tall in part shade. It is blooming now in Fremont, CA (in an unseasonably warm winter). It is a perennial. Any ideas?
